Sirens

For a Siren and her music,
Unabashed and thrilling to the ear,
I’d fight for front row seats
            Or rush the stage
While she was bringing down the house

But for the woman who prefers
            To string along a man
            By ever promising
            To ply her vocal wares
            I’ll sail right by

            I’d rather death be sudden
            Than interminable
