Mind Over Matter

Before I learned that stars had names
            And constellations imitated earthly ways
I used to think it was a sort of sin
To see in landscapes a reflection of my face

But now I find it easy to appease
            The claims of conscience in
            The matter of my mind
Because I know I merely suffer the disease
            Of humankind
