Misbeliever

            I told her
            It’s impossible to
            Misinterpret me

            She won’t believe

‘What if,’ says she, ‘I think the opposite?’

‘How can you not?’ say I

‘But that’s not what you want me to conclude!’

            ‘I don’t’

            ‘You see!’

‘I mean,’ I countered, ‘you’ve a right to dream your dreams,
            whatever they may be’

‘So what’s the point if I can have my take
no matter what you write and can’t be wrong?’

I paused a moment to reflect

‘I guess that neither you nor I are capable of a mistake,’
Then added, ‘lest it be neglect’
